This week has been my daughter’s turn to be the “Student of the Week” in her 1st grade class. Every day, she has had a special responsibility AND she’s had a chance to share some of her favorite things (books, treasures, pictures, snacks) with her classmates while they get to know her a little better.
She has looked forward to this week since the beginning of school (when she found out what her assigned date would be). Even so, she told me yesterday, “Mom, being the Student of the Week is a lot of work!”
Today, for the last activity of the week, a MYSTERY READER will come to her class and read a story that is special to her. She has been almost as excited about finding out who the mystery reader is as she has about anything else this week! If you promise not to spoil the secret, I’ll tell you.
THE MYSTERY READER IS….

Her big brother!
He had the same 1st grade teacher a couple of years ago and was very excited about going back to 1st grade a little older and wiser! He read selections from Dr. Suess’ Sneetches and Other Stories, a book he picked because he knows his sister likes it so much. I think it’s funny to remember that the same book was one of his favorites too! What a fun family surprise for all of us!
Here’s hoping that your Friday has a little mystery and a lot of fun too!
